Disaster Preparedness
Important information on the care and feeding of your family during a disaster
Jun 26, 2008
In the wake of the recent floods in the Midwest, we are reminded that disaster preparedness should always be on the forefront of our minds. The American Academy of Pediatrics has several disaster preparedness resources, including those related to infant feeding. The needs of children and families are often overlooked during times of disaster and we need to be pro-active in ensuring their safety. Please see below for the available resources from the AAP.
http://www.aap.org/breastfeeding/disasters.cfm - this page includes our fact sheet on infant nutrition during a disaster, a sample press release, a presentation about disasters, and more!
http://www.aap.org/disasters/sites.html - the AAP's main Children and Disasters Web page.
