Pediatrics

ā€œI chose pediatrics as a career because the earliest years of life provide the greatest opportunity to build a strong foundation for lifelong health. I enjoy caring for patients through each stage of development—from newborns to adolescents—and tailoring care to meet each child’s unique needs. One of the most rewarding aspects of pediatrics is forming long-term relationships with families and working together to support children as they grow and thrive.ā€

Dr. Longway supports vaccinations for all children. His patients should anticipate that vaccinations will be discussed at all well child examinations and vaccinations will be offered at all appointments to children who are due for vaccines. Dr. Longway promotes and follows the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) immunization schedule to provide evidence-based vaccine recommendations for children and adolescents.

Dr. Longway previously served as a pediatrician in the U.S. Army and completed his pediatric residency at Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. After practicing in Texas and South Korea, he and his wife were excited to return to Tacoma and the Pacific Northwest, where they first fell in love with the area during residency. In his free time, Dr. Longway enjoys kayaking, hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing, exploring national parks, and playing the guitar and banjo.
